ANKLE SPRAINS
Ankle sprain, or sprained ankle, is a condition for which most people don't know there is a treatment. They think they have to wait and let it heal. Some may apply ice but nothing more. However, you don't have to just wait. Treating ankle sprains not only speeds healing, but it also makes healing more complete.
When I was in college, I sprained my ankle quite severely and because I didn't know better, I just waited for it to heal. It took 18 months before it completely healed. About two years later, I sprained my ankle again while I was attending chiropractic school. The severity of the sprain was very close to the previous sprain. There was a similar amount of swelling, pain, loss of use, etc. However, since I was a chiropractic student, I received great treatment at my school. This time it was fully healed in just three months – not 18. As a chiropractor, I have helped many patients achieve a quick and complete recovery with therapy.
Unfortunately the best treatments for ankle sprain are often not performed. In the ankle sprain chapter I will give:
The "do's" and "don't" of my thorough home treatment program.
-
How aggressive your treatment should be.
-
Whether you need to have your ankle x-rayed.
-
And more.
With quality treatment your injured ankle should heal in the shortest time possible.
